Maui is one of Caitlin's favorite places to visit. With the stunning views, turquoise ocean, respectful earth culture, and delectable dishes, she could not wait to share Maui with Clay. It happened on the fourth vacation day. They had Maui Glass on the itinerary, however it turned out to be a fail because the Maui Glass Caitlin typed into Google Maps, was the actual factory in an industrial area, not a gallery like she was envisioning. They were flying by the seat of their pants coming up with a backup plan. They wanted to go to some type of park with great views. They decided to visit the Ho'okipa Beach Park and Lookout. The waves on the north shore were said to be huge, so they wanted to see it for themselves. They arrived at the park and the waves were impressive. It was enjoyable watching the surfers ride the waves, some more successful than others. Clay subtly started to scout out the place. He decided on the furthest point north of the lookout. He suggest to Caitlin that they should walk down to the rocks, where it was completely secluded. Caitlin agreed with hesitation, the walk down was steep and slightly slippery. They made it down quickly and explored the area. It was absolutely stunning. The crystal clear waters, the waves crashing against the rocks was breathe taking. Clay started to set up his GoPro diagonally behind Caitlin. She didn't find that suspicious since he had been taking videos throughout the trip. Once the camera was set up, they stood side by side, hand in hand looking out into the Pacific Ocean. That moment forward it was a blur for the both of them. In short, Clay asked "I love you, will you marry me?" and got on one knee. It was a profound yes (obviously)!!! Caitlin did have to correct Clay on what hand the ring went out, but it was such a special and memorable moment. Clay made the proposal experience for Caitlin unforgettable. It happened in her favorite vacation location, away from crowds, her parents were present, and using her grandmothers engagement ring. Caitlin could not have asked for a more perfect scenario.
