It could never be Sam's wedding without a recommendation for a bookstore! Powell's, conveniently in the neighborhood where we are getting married, is a Portland institution and famous for taking up an entire city block.
I know many of you are planning on making our wedding into a PNW vacation and heading up to Seattle! The easiest way to get there from Portland is by train, and all our hotels are between a 5 and 10 minute walk from Union Station in Portland. There are 12 trains between Seattle and Portland daily, and tickets are about $30. This is the beloved Amtrak Cascades route, which will take you through the Cascade Mountains, including Mt. Hood and Mt. Rainier. When heading north, sit on the left hand side of the train in the direction of travel to maximize views!

The primary purpose of the Garden is to serve as a testing ground for new rose varieties. In the beginning, while World War I was raging, hybridists sent roses from around the world to Portland’s garden for testing.
