Yes! Our venue is about 1 hr 15 min from DIA and 55 min from downtown Denver, so you will need a vehicle to get around. Uber/Lyft are okay while in Denver, but these car services are not reliable in the mountains. We recommend coordinating with friends to offset cost, and are working on our end to try to arrange shuttle transportation from the Holiday Inn (where we have a block of rooms) for the wedding itself.
While we would love to celebrate with your entire family, the venue is a smaller one and we cannot accommodate everyone, so we ask that you leave your kids at home and enjoy a night of dinner and dancing kid-free. We apologize for this inconvenience!
Technically, no...however, it can exacerbate dehydration and exaggerate the effects of alcohol. We will have water stations set up, but the venue is at almost 8000 feet and very dry, so please, please, please drink carefully (we recommend a 1:1 ratio of alcoholic beverage to water) and NEVER drink and drive. The mountain roads are dark and curvy and we want everyone to be safe!
Deer Creek Valley Ranch is in Bailey, CO, which is at ~7,750 feet (2360m). Altitude sickness, aka acute mountain illness, is caused by the lower partial pressure of oxygen at higher altitudes and can happen at altitudes as low as 4-5000 feet (1220-1525m). It is most commonly seen at altitudes above 8000 feet (2440m), and usually presents with dizziness, headaches, nausea, and shortness of breath. Altitude sickness can be prevented with adequate hydration, a light but high-calorie diet, and avoiding strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours at altitude. If symptoms develop, Tylenol, ibuprofen, and hydration are first-line; severe symptoms should prompt a reduction in altitude of at least 1500 feet (500m) +/- oxygen.
Only in designated areas. This is EXTREMELY important. Colorado is in a 20+-year drought and as you probably know, wildfires are a major problem. Please do not smoke anywhere except indicated.
