We first met in high school at an early morning winter tennis clinic called Gold Cup. Graham was there with his two best friends, Evan and Austen, and Christianne was there with some teammates from her high school team. Given similar tennis abilities, Christianne and the boys were often assigned to the same court, and the competition during drills like King (or, more often, Queen...!) of the Court was fierce. The competition quickly morphed into a close friendship (thanks, Evan!), and this friendship withstood the test of time. Post-tennis breakfasts, summer barbecues, and regular hangouts became less frequent as one-by-one we left for college and Christianne moved away for medical school, but we still managed to get together every year at the holidays to catch up. In 2017, just before Christianne left New York for Chicago for her residency, Graham came to visit for a long weekend. Recognizing the spark that had probably been there all along, we decided to take a stab at dating, and spent the next four years traveling back and forth between Chicago and Philadelphia. As they say, distance makes the heart grow fonder, and in July, Graham got down on one knee in Valley Forge Park (the place Maarten loved and where Graham asked his permission to propose), and asked Christianne to marry him. We are so excited to celebrate with you here in Colorado, the place where our life together (in one place!) truly began. Thank you for making the trip!
