We can't wait for you to explore this amazing place! Check out our recommendations for hiking , fishing and climbing and for some of the more established spots around town.
The Great Outdoors:
Hiking- More hiking than you could do in a lifetime, from short walks through wildflower filled meadows to multi-day alpine excursions.
Our recommendation-Salt Lick Creek Loop:
1.9 miles, moderate difficulty https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/wyoming/salt-lick-creek-loop?u=i
Fly fishing- Most of the lakes and streams in the national forest are filled with hungry trout. WY nonresident fishing license required. Reach out to borrow a rod and gear.
Climbing- More than 1000, predominantly sport routes, line the canyon walls. Guidebook is a must as there is no cell service in the canyon. We have one copy available to borrow or you can buy your own at Dirty Sally's.
Our recommendation: French Cattle Ranch
Nearby-ish National Parks:
Yellowstone (3 hours)
Grand Teton (4 hours)
Around Town:
Medicine Lodge Archaeological Site
4800 County Road 52, Hyattville, WY 82428, (307) 469-2234
View hundreds of prehistoric petroglyphs and pictographs along a 700 foot long sandstone cliff. Hike and explore 10,000 years of rich, cultural history. Wildlife viewing and opportunities for adventure are amongst the best in the state.
Dirty Sally's
124 2nd Street, Ten Sleep, WY 82442, (307) 366-2500
Dirty Sally's is a general store filled with camping essentials, souvenirs and the best ice cream. Our personal favorite is the s'mores flavor!
Ten Sleep Brewing Co
2549 U.S. 16, Ten Sleep, WY 82442, (307) 366-2074
The best and only brewery in town. Located on a cattle ranch and surrounded by beautiful fields and red rocks. We recommend a shandy with their IPA.
