Folly Farm Centre Stowey, Bishop Sutton, Bristol BS39 4DW Folly Farm is owned by the Avon Wildlife Trust and sits on a two-hundred-fifty-acre nature reserve in Somerset, England. The venue includes 20 hotel-style rooms that we will have exclusive use of from 2pm on July 13th to 11AM on July 15th. For more info on staying at the farm, see separate FAQ "Is there accommodation at the venue?" The stone barn in which we'll have the reception is likely older than the United States! All profits from weddings at Folly Farm go toward supporting the nature reserve, which we think is wonderful.
By April 15, 2025 please.
By car or taxi (Uber is unreliable in the countryside). Folly Farm is on a nature reserve surrounded by farmland and is unfortunately not accessible by public transit. However, it is only a 25-minute drive from the cities of Bath or Bristol. If you're coming from one of the London airports, you have a couple options: 1) Rent a car and drive 2-3 hours to Folly Farm. There's plenty of parking on site. 2) Get a train ($$$) or bus ($) from London to Bath, then get a taxi from Bath to the venue.
There is a large dirt car park at the venue. From there, it's a very short walk up a dirt path to the venue. Guests can also be dropped off just outside the reception building beyond the car park, if needed.
The ceremony will begin at 2pm on July 14th, 2025. Please arrive early so you have time to park, admire the scenery, and find a seat.
Yes! We have exclusive access to twenty hotel-style rooms, ten in the "farmhouse" and ten in the "studios." Most have en-suite bathrooms and sleep 2, 3, or 4 people. Four rooms have bunkbeds with shared bathrooms (and will be cheaper). Room prices are approximately £100 per night. Folks coming from overseas, especially those with children, will get priority. In addition to this, there is camping available for up to six guests if you have a tent. Staying at the venue will be the most convenient option by far, so please do let us know when you RSVP if you'd like to join the wedding village :)
From the car park (parking lot), it is a short walk along a dirt path with some steps up to the venue. It is possible to drive past the car park in order to drop people off right outside the reception building. If you're planning to stay on site, there are several ground-floor rooms that we'll allocate to anyone who needs them for mobility reasons. The site comprises two buildings with short walks on dirt, gravel, or grass between.
Cocktail attire for the ceremony and reception, please.
Canapés and cocktails will be served following the ceremony. Later, the reception will include a full sit-down meal concluding with a many-tiered cake made by the wonderful Adriana. For special diet info, see next FAQ. For those guests staying at the venue, we will be providing a complimentary Continental breakfast the morning of the ceremony.
We should be aware of everyone's special/restricted/picky diets, but if you think we aren't please let us know in your RSVP. We're planning to have gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options available at the cocktail hour and reception dinner.
Please see your invitation.
Obviously, guests of all ages are welcome! We're hoping the on-site accommodation will be useful to parents and kids who can simply walk to their rooms whenever they need privacy or sleep. We will not have childcare on site. There will, however, be lawn games and coloring books and who knows what other fun things!
Based on historical data, there's a 50% chance of clouds, a 20% chance of rain, and the temperature will range from 13C (55F) to 21C (70F). Knock on wood. Bring an umbrella if possible. The ceremony will be outdoors, the meal and dancing will be indoors.
The UK has different-shaped outlets at higher voltage (230V) compared to America and Europe. For computers and phones, all you need is a plug adaptor. For electric razors, hair driers, and other small electronic devices, you will need a voltage converter. Don't be like Charlie and plug an American DeWalt battery charger into a UK outlet using an adaptor rather than a convertor! It will smoke and die like the Wicked Witch of the West.
There will be wifi at the venue and in our experience there is also good cell service.
Yes! We really hope some of you will take our wedding as an excuse for a summer holiday. If you'd like to arrive to the UK well before the wedding, or leave well after, please do let us know because we would love to spend time with each and every one of you. We would also be happy to help you plan side-trips to other areas of the UK or to mainland Europe. Flights from Bristol to anywhere in Europe are quite affordable (we often fly to France for around £50 a ticket). Ever wanted to see Barcelona? Brussels? Budapest? This might be your chance.
