Question

Is Merida safe?

Answer

YES! Merida has been named the second safest city in North America by Ceoworld Magazine, one of the leading business publications in the States, beaten to the number one spot by Quebec City in the Canadian French-speaking province of Quebec. The magazine assessed (334) cities worldwide based on their safety indices and crime level indicators, and the capital of the Yucatan ranked as the 21st safest destination globally, charting higher than every major U.S. destination.

Question

Is there a gift registry?

Answer

No, the bride and groom opted not to do a gift registry. Your presence is gift enough!

Question

What's the weather going to be like?

Answer

Hot! April typically has highs in the 90s, lows in the 70s. To beat the heat, the hotel has a massive pool to cool off in (actually has 3 pools!), each room has AC, and unlimited bottled water to stay hydrated.

Question

Is the hotel all inclusive?

Answer

No. Your room rate includes daily breakfast consisting of: Coffee or Tea, Juice, Fruit, Bread Basket, Eggs or Pancakes. There is unlimited bottled water which they will bring to your room. All other food and beverages will need to be paid for, but they can add them to your room charge for convenience (ie, you don't need to carry around pesos or credit card).

Question

Can I bring my kids?

Answer

As much as we love your kiddos, things might get a little cray cray, so we've decided to make this adults only getaway.

Question

Do I have to stay at the Hacienda Xcanatun hotel?

Answer

Selfishly we'd love to have everyone stay at the hotel with us so we get to spend more time with you! But you can definitely find other accommodations in Merida and just arrange to come to the hacienda for the wedding.

Question

Do I need to exchange money into Mexican Pesos?

Answer

While most establishments accept credit cards, we did find a few that were cash only so it's good to have some Mexican Pesos on hand. Especially for tipping.

Question

Will my cell phone work in Mexico?

Answer

I think most cell carriers include coverage in Mexico but it's best to research your specific plan and carrier prior to arriving in country.

Question

Does the hotel have WiFi?

Answer

Yes - Hacienda Xcanatun has WiFi that is included in your room rate.

Question

Can I bring my own food and drink into the hotel?

Answer

There is a grocery store (Super Aki Xcanatun) about 10 min walk from the hotel if you would like to get some snacks and beverages for your room. There is a refrigerator in each room but they are pretty small. The hotel will provide bottled water and ice, and breakfast is included for our group room block.
