Boulder's most famous pedestrian street, lined with restaurants, shops and people watching, Pearl Street is the heart and soul of Boulder — and has been for more than four decades. To get in a 'full lap,' start at Spruce Confections with a pastry and coffee at the corner of 8th Street and Pearl, and end at Jones + Co Mercantile (0.9 miles walking) before turning around and heading back. While the list could go on forever, some of our favorite stops along the way include Piece, Love, and Chocolate, Trident Booksellers, Peppercorn, Liberty Puzzles, Rocket Fizz, Dedalus Wine Shop and Market, and Jungle on your way back if you're ready for an adult beverage!
No surprise, the Boulder Farmers' Market is one of the main social functions in Boulder's weekend calendar. A place to see and be seen. Peruse the stands of produce and local goods, grab a coffee and bite from the food trucks, relax in the park, or go for a stroll along Boulder Creek. A beautiful and relaxing way to start your Saturday.
A wonderful spot on Pearl Street for morning coffee, juices, and smoothies
A Scandinavian style cafe, Süti & Co has the cutest cookies, coffees, teas, and home goods for sale. Cassie's favorite place to 'give them all her money,' sitting outside in the sun on a sheepskin covered chair with a slice of olive oil cake and a pot of tea is about as good as it gets. The Chloe cookie is Cassie's personal favorite.
Looking for a quick lunch with stunning Flatiron views? Avanti is your place. Situated on the east end of Pearl Street, Avanti is a European style food hall with a wide variety of food concepts and cuisines. A great place to pause on your stroll down Pearl for a local beer and bite
One of our favorite food and drink spots in Boulder. Spanish tapas and gin & tonics with a wonderful outdoor deck featuring views of the Flatirons. There is also an outdoor fire pit for chillier weather!
The Kitchen is always a great meal. With a farm to table focus and great cocktails, both indoor and outdoor seating does not disappoint. If tables prove hard to come by, The Kitchen Upstairs serves the full menu in a cocktail lounge environment.
Steps away from the cottages at Chautauqua, the Flatirons contain some of Boulder's best hiking. Try the 1st and 2nd Flatirons Loop (find the route on the AllTrails App), for a moderate to challenging adventure (with beautiful views at the finish), or the Enchanted Mesa for something a bit easier. If you've conquered both, the Royal Arch trail is a steep but rewarding out and back with a stunning view of Boulder and the 1st Flatiron at the end.
Looking for that 'Old West' feeling? Look no further than Gold Hill, CO, a short 15 minute drive up Sunshine Canyon from downtown Boulder. Incorporated in 1859, this small settlement was built around, you guessed it, gold mining. It hasn't changed much since. Check out the Gold Hill Inn, the Gold Hill Museum, and our personal favorite, the Gold Hill General Store. Delicious baked goods, pizza, and beer in the land that time forgot.
For those seeking additional outdoor adventure (and maybe have a few additional days built in around the wedding), Rocky Mountain National Park is a mere 45 minutes from Boulder. We recommend checking out the trails around Bear Lake (remember to book a timed entry reservation via the link above well in advance). If you need recommendations on specific trails or sights in the park, let us know and we'd be happy to share our favorites.
