The Yucatan peninsula is very close to the equator so the temperatures are usually warm. In February, the highs would be in the 80s and the lows in the 70s or 60s.
The wedding will be outdoors, but with covering.
Yes! There is plenty of parking on site.
Merida (MID) has an airport with taxi services that will bring you to your hotel. Uber is not allowed at the airport. Another option is flying into Cancun (CUN) and either renting a car from the airport, or taking a charter bus to Merida from the airport. The ride is approximately 4 hours via bus and 3.5 hours via car. The company to buy bus tickets through is ADO. You are able to buy bus tickets at the airport and check departure times at www.ADO.com.mx. Please reach out if you are buying bus tickets, they do not accept US credit/debit so we can help purchase online! Do not hesitate to ask if you have questions.
Yes! However, Merida is a large city, so all should take the same precautions that you would traveling to any city. Stick with Uber over taxis unless coming from the airport or if your hotel uses a specific taxi service. Do not explore outside of tourist areas in Cancun or Playa Del Carmen. Stick to highways as much as possible if you rent a car and plan on driving outside of Merida.
We have suggested some hotels that can be found under the, "Travel" tab. They are located in the tourist area: Paseo de Montejo. Those looking for airbnb should look in the area of: Parque Santa Ana, Parque Santa Lucia, Parque Santiago, and Paseo de Montejo.
The Yucatan Peninsula offers a lot to explore. There are over 3000 cenotes (underwater caves) in the area, as well as one of the modern wonders of the world, the Mayan pyramid, Chichen-Itza. Some of our favorite Cenotes are located at Haciendas Mucuyche and Santa Barbara. Merida is only a 30 minute drive to the closest beach town, Progresso, and also has its own historic Mayan roots with a nearby pyramid called, Dzibilchaltun. There are several haciendas in the area that offer tours, some via horseback. One of our favorites is, Hacienda Zamna. The city itself offers much to do. Shopping, dining, and bars can be found in the main tourist areas, Paseo de Montejo and El Centro. Isla Mujeres is one of our favorite islands on the Caribbean, and is accessible by way of ferry via Cancun. Cozumel is the bigger of the islands, accessible by way of ferry via Playa Del Carmen. Located south of Cancun and Playa Del Carmen is a quieter beach town called, Tulum. There are more chances to see Mayan ruins in Tulum. For those really looking to explore the area, we highly recommend going to the lagoon town of Bacalar. Even though the town may be very small, the water in the lagoon (coming fresh from underground cenotes) is unlike any other you will swim in. Other notable towns in the area are: Valladolid, Izamal, Uxmal, Celestun, Sisal, Holbox.
We never expect gifts! The best present we could have is celebrating with those we love. But for those inclined to give a little more, we are asking instead of presents, for contributions to savings for our new house. This can be done by accessing our "registry" tab or by transferring directly to Mariana or Cassandra to avoid fees.
