The word “Sangeet “ means music, but when it is used as a term to describe a celebratory event during an Indian wedding it translates to Music Night or Musical party. This musical night is a celebration of the union of not only the couple but the bonding of both families. It is here that both sides bring down their barriers and mingle in a fun environment full of singing and dancing.
Attire Recommendations For Women: brightly colored Lehenga, Saree, or Anarkali Suit or festive cocktail attire For Men: western business suits or cocktail attire (feel free to bring some pizzazz)
9:15 am - 10:00 am
The Baarat is the groom's procession to the bride and her family. During this event the groom will walk and dance from the convention center to the beach palapa, accompanied by the beat of a dhol (Indian drum). After the Baarat, the Milni ("meeting") ceremony will take place on the beach, introducing the immediate relatives in both families before the wedding ceremony.
Attire recommendation: Traditional Indian attire is strongly encouraged. Clothing worn to the Baraat will also be worn directly after at the Indian wedding ceremony, which requires conservative coverage. For Women: Lehenga, Saree, Anarkali Suit For Men: Kurta Pajama, Sherwani, or Western Suit
10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Anand Karaj ("blissful union") is the Sikh wedding ceremony. The ceremony takes place in the morning and will be completed by noon. Most guests will be seated on the floor but some chairs will be provided for those who require more comfort.
Attire recommendation: Traditional Indian attire is encouraged. This ceremony requires conservative coverage and head coverings, which will be provided at the ceremony venue. Shoes will be removed before entering the Beach Palapa. For Women: Lehenga, Saree, Anarkali Suit For Men: Western Suit, Kurta Pajama, or Sherwani
