After endlessly swiping on various dating apps, Marshal and Cara finally swiped right thanks to Bumble. They texted for a week before their first date at Samurai Blue, a popular sushi restaurant in Tampa. When neither wanted the night to end, they headed to Sparkman Wharf and walked around the area talking for hours. Both knew immediately that something was different and they quickly became inseparable. And now, two years, 18 seasons of Grey's Anatomy, two broken fingers and one spinal surgery later, here they are: getting married!
Marshal and Cara headed to Hilton Head Island, SC with Cara's family for a much-needed vacation; Cara's parents have held a timeshare there since before she was born. A few days into the trip, amid Cara's suspicion, Marshal proposed during a beautiful sunset sail aboard a true America's Cup - 12 meter sailboat Stars & Stripes in front of Cara's family, a few strangers (and some dolphins too!). When they arrived at the dock for the sail, Cara was trying to see if Marshal had a box in his pocket. Little did she know the ring was in her mom's purse the entire time! Marshal kept it short and sweet. There were tears. There were drinks. A few curse words when Cara saw the ring. And, of course, a YES!
