It was the 4th of July when we matched on Bumble...you could say there were fireworks from the get-go! After an unconventional but Covid-friendly first date over Zoom, we decided to risk it all by holding hands on a walk through the Arboretum. We've been holding hands ever since.
It was a cold & rainy Saturday afternoon when Drew insisted we go on a walk. We were hosting a family Christmas party that evening, so the last thing Cannon wanted to do in the midst of preparation was to get wet & chilled. After some persistence, Drew led us through the Arboretum to the gazebo and got down on one knee. After Cannon said yes, Drew's identical twin brother & sister-in-law popped out of the bushes, having captured the moment on camera. Our family got to be together that evening to celebrate the holidays and our engagement!
Drew & Cannon worked together to design her engagement ring. Cannon was very close to her maternal grandmother, Marilyn, who passed in July 2020 before getting the chance to meet Drew. We were able to repurpose the stones from Marilyn's wedding ring into Cannon's engagement ring, so she is always with us to celebrate our love and union.
