Travel Information

Our wedding reception will take place at a brewery in Dubuque, Iowa, which is about a 3-hour drive from Chicago and a 2- hour drive from Iowa City. We highly recommend staying in Dubuque - we've listed the most convenient hotels on our website. Please book as soon as possible to avoid issues with availability. Our Welcome Party will be in Dubuque, Iowa on Friday September 20 at Shot Tower Inn. Our wedding ceremony will take place at Grant Park in Galena, Illinois, about a 15 minute drive from the reception venue. Sunday Coffee at Revery Tree Farm will be held at our home, which is about 35 minutes from downtown Dubuque, and is on the way out of town if traveling back to Chicago. We highly recommend booking your hotel ASAP. We have a wedding block available at the Holiday Inn Dubuque/Galena (information below). In addition to the options listed on our website, Dubuque has several other hotels and many Air BnB's conveniently located by the venue. The TownePlace Suites by Marriot is across the street from the reception, but has limited availability on our wedding weekend. Dubuque has Uber, Lyft and several cab companies available. There are links to the cab companies on our website. You can also stay in Galena, Illinois, if you would like - Galena is a popular tourist destination, and our home. However, there is no transportation between Galena and Dubuque. If you're having trouble figuring out the best way to get to us, let us know :)

Email to Guests on 9/14 with Further Information - Part 1, welcome party and ceremony

For those of you attending the Welcome Party on Friday, September 20 - This event will take place at the Shot Tower Inn, 390 Locust Street, in Dubuque, Iowa, at 6 PM. Feel free to come and go as you please. Attire is very casual. We will have fried chicken, pizza, and salad. We will have gluten free pizza as well. If the selections do not meet your dietary restrictions, you are welcome to order something from the menu that does. The ceremony will take place on Saturday, September 21 at Grant Park, 625 Park Avenue, in Galena, Illinois. This is about a 20 minute drive from Dubuque. We are not able to provide transportation to the ceremony. However, there is plenty of street parking, as well as a free public parking lot about 1.5 blocks from Grant Park, on Route 20 and Park Avenue. Please plan to arrive close to 1PM to enjoy hors d’oeuvres and refreshments and find your seat before the start of the ceremony. Weather Plan: There is no rain predicted for our wedding day right now. We are planning on moving forward with the outdoor ceremony. If it becomes clear that this is changing and the rain will ruin our parade, we will hold the ceremony at 7 Hills Event Center, 1098 Jackson Street, at 1PM. Please check your email by 10:30 AM the morning of September 21 to be sure we have not moved the ceremony. After the ceremony, please stick around for a champagne toast. If you are interested, please also join Caitlin and Philip for a short walk into downtown Galena to take photos and get a drink at Blaum Brothers’ distillery.

Email to Guests on 9/14 with Further Information - Part 2, reception, after party, and day after

The reception will start at 4 PM at 7 Hills Event Center, 1098 Jackson Street in Dubuque, Iowa. We will have a cocktail hour followed by a buffet dinner service. If you have indicated that you have dietary restrictions, please state your dietary restrictions to the staff when you are called up for dinner. If you have children who have ordered a kids’ meal, please also let the staff know when you go up to get your plate. As most of you know, we are huge fans of supporting our local drag performers. The after party will take place at Smokestack, 62 E 7th Street in Dubuque, Iowa, where the "Cirque Dubuque" drag show begins around 10:30 PM. Please note that there is a $15 cover for the drag performers. Please also remember to bring tip money for the performer if you plan on joining! We highly recommend driving/carpooling to and from the ceremony. Please also note that all locations in Dubuque are within a 15 minute walk between each other and the hotels on our wedding website. Local cab company info is available on our website. For those of you who will be joining us at Revery Farm on Sunday, September 22, please pull into our driveway at 2303 W Cording Road any time after 10 AM. Google maps will send you to our neighbors down the road - if you’re coming from Dubuque, just keep driving and look for the mailbox that says “2303” on your right. Call our house phone (815-777-8157) if you have issues. You will be directed where to park your car. We will have coffee, tea, and light breakfast options, so please plan accordingly. We will have some seating, but feel free to throw a camping chair or two in your car if you’ll want to sit and enjoy our farm. We have two trails which are both ready to hike, but try and wear long pants and be careful of thorny bushes along the path. We will have bug spray available. Revery Farm is on the way back to Chicago from Dubuque.
