On one of Laura's very first visits to see Kevin he took her here. They eventually became members! If you can try to snag a taste of the Isosceles Reserve - YUM! Pro tips: 1. They do take reservations and are recommended 2. Cell service is very spotty 3. They also have a Paso Robles downtown tasting room if you don't feel like making the trek!
On a recent trip, Laura and her mom stopped by this secluded winery for lunch & wine tasting. After hearing from the owner's son, who was also their wine pourer, that the winery was conceptualized over a bottle of wine between his dad and "The Dude's" doppelganger on a South African trip, we couldn't get enough. The French region varietals are sure to please - especially over the crab cakes and demi loaf + gourmet spread flight! ...and yes, Laura & Kevin joined as members here too. Pro tip: They do not take lunch reservations for less than 6 guests, though the wait is usually fairly short. This place is quite busy for being fairly remote!
Laura vows to never visit ever since Kevin told her it's the "Arachnophobia" filming site. Kevin's been to a filming IN the barn on Halloween. They even dropped spiders from the ceiling for extra effect. No thank you. Pro tip: Taste at your own risk.
A local favorite!
It looks like a castle!
Yummy food too! Had Kevin's birthday lunch here in 2019!
For the non wine-goers out there - this is less than 2 miles from Firestone Walker Brewing Company too!
Founded right here in the 805 (area code). Just a hop, skip, and a jump from the hotels & BarrelHouse!
After a long day of wine tasting in August this place definitely hit the spot!
A San Luis Obispo eatery that expanded to Paso Robles with Northern Italian flair!
"Creative Spanish & Latin American dishes, plus craft cocktails, served in a warm, relaxed ambiance."
So tasty and seemed to be quite popular when the couple ate there. The burger was delicious and the cocktails were so creative - and yummy! "A cozy, comfortable joint with great comfort food, interesting cocktails, and weekend late night dining"
"A farm-to-table restaurant dedicated to serving creative, organic cuisine." All ingredients are locally sourced!
Zipline, kayak, and wildlife tours. Located just between San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles.
"Guests explore the art & grounds of the 20th-century mansion built by the eponymous media magnate." ~50 minutes from the hotels.
Kevin, Laura, and some family viewed it in August is it was breathtaking. We highly recommend seeing the exhibit after dusk! "A 15 acre walk-through artwork, Field of Light is a sculptural composition that covers Sensorio’s rolling hills with an array of over 58,800 stemmed spheres lit by fiber-optics, gently illuminating the landscape in subtle blooms of morphing color. Powered by solar, the stunning exhibition captivates visitors, inviting them to engage with the countryside through an ethereal light-based, sculptural experience." Pro tip: Plan to see the exhibit after sunset & dress warm!
