Laura & Kevin would love to have you join them for a celebratory weekend of their love! After the year all have had they cannot wait to see you and have a good time doing it! As much as this is about them, they want to create the perfect backdrop for the magical reunion between you all - friends and family - this is sure to bring. As a spoiler alert, here are a few Brophy updates to note:: Laura & Kevin couldn't wait to be officially married. So with their loving, immediate families in attendance, they were married by Neal Brophy (Kevin's dad) in August, 2020; and were quickly blessed with a bun in the oven! Though baby boy Brophy has not quite yet made his debut into the world, he'll be donning a tux - and maybe some Nikes, come June 26th!
As everyone* on UCLA campus was procrastinating before finals, a volleyball teammate and friend of Laura's forced Kevin and his baseball roommates to come into their dorm suite. It was kind of shocking that everyone hadn't met around the Athletic Department yet! As the gents were outside throwing a football, it didn't take much convincing to talk them into a game of 20 questions. When Laura heard Kevin humbly speak of his brains, brawn, and those baby blues (not to mention eyeing his calf-to-ankle ratio), she was wildly intrigued. A few days and a long one-on-one chat later, Kevin took note too. Though they only remained friends during college and resided in different cities post-college for more than a decade, each was always quickly willing to meet up should their paths cross. It took a mutual friend's long weekend wedding** to finally ignite a spark. A couple weeks and a Jeopardy Tournament of Champions later, they were making weekend treks between San Francisco & San Luis Obispo. *Ok, maybe not 'everyone' **Thanks BT & Ashley!
Kevin and Laura thought it would be fun to get back to their roots and head to UCLA for a weekend of NCAA baseball playoffs. Little did Laura know that Kevin had chatted with her parents a few weeks earlier about a certain something he was planning to do. After a Saturday morning brunch at Headlines, Kevin's favorite Westwood spot, the two walked around campus reminiscing and, of course, completing the Daily Bruin crossword puzzle (nerds!). After a quick stop at the Student Store, Kevin found a bustling corner of the main quad to kneel & pop the ultimate question. No one around them noticed; it was as if they were in their own, enchanted world. Because Laura was overwhelmed, she never actually said the magic word. Kevin wanted to make sure and followed up, "So, yes?" to which Laura replied, "OK!" A few minutes later Kevin still wasn't satisfied with the non-yes so followed up: "I don't think you ever gave me an answer." Laura specifically recalled and laughed, "I said 'OK'!" It was the perfect way to celebrate their 1.5 year anniversary of dating and 14th year of friendship - down to the week. The best 10th week, spring quarter - where it all began. Go Bruins.
