It all started when Mason commented on Brooke's birthday post on instagram. It obviously caught Brooke's attention because he said "slayyyy." She immediately slid into Mason's DM's. That night, after a few messages back and forth, Mason sent Brooke $24 on venmo for her 24th birthday and he woke up the next day with instant regret because this was the beginning of his future with Brooke. But that wasn't the first time Brooke and Mason had crossed paths. They both started college together in 2014 at Guilford College, and while volleyball and lacrosse took up most of their time, they would see each other around the athletic buildings and at parties. It was a small school, so everybody knew what cars everyone drove, and Brooke really only knew Mason as "the lacrosse guy with the jacked up 4Runner." Fast forward 6 years later, in June 2020, Mason invited Brooke over to his dad's house for a "day drink" and had their first kiss in the garage, so romantic. Immediately they had a thing for each other and were inseparable. They started off with a long distance relationship, while Brooke was in Raleigh and Mason was in Greensboro. Mason soon enough moved to Raleigh and kinda got a new roommate because they really don't leave each other's side... Unless Brooke goes to Target or Homegoods, because that's easily a 4 hour shopping trip. Mason and Brooke have gone through challenges that not a lot of relationships experience. Brooke lost her dad unexpectedly in March 2021, only 10 months into dating. She told Mason, “Now’s a good time to leave me if this is too much.” He responded, “I’m not going anywhere.” Mason has been Brooke’s rock through it all and made their relationship even stronger. In August 2021, they moved into their first apartment together. Then in April 2022, Brooke bought her first house and had her first official “tenant.” Over the years, they’ve traveled to Vegas, Key West, Charleston, DC, and plan for many more excursions. They both really enjoy EDM shows and music festivals because it allows them to be their true selves. On their wedding day you’ll be able to experience the love they have for music at their mini festival-like wedding. They both have a love for food, but Brooke loves nothing more than one of Mason’s steaks. Mason was grandfathered in to being “dad” to Brooke’s cat, Kitty. But in Dec 2022, they welcomed their second cat, Earl. Earl told his dad to propose to his Mom, because she wouldn’t stfu about it. There were many times where Brooke assumed the proposal would happen, but Mason really caught her off guard. On October 14, 2023, Brooke planned a surprise birthday party for Mason. Brooke’s mom ruined the surprise by calling Mason and said “this is the best time to propose because she’ll have no idea.” If you know Brooke, she’s Nancy Drew and knows EVERYTHING. As they're walking into Lynnwood Brewing, Brooke was staring Mason down to make sure he was surprised when he saw all of his people. Everyone yelled SURPRISEEEEE! But little did Brooke know, the surprise was for her. Mason immediately got down on one knee and made it official. Y’all know what happened next, Brooke immediately booked the venue the day after the proposal. I mean who's surprised??? Brooke and Mason can’t wait to celebrate with all of their favorite people, from all chapters of life, under one roof. Cheers to the new journey as the future Boones!
