Allison: We met like so many modern romances begin nowadays, through an online dating app. We chatted for quite some time before going on our first date. Josh: This is mainly because I was too cautious and didn't want to screw things up. A: I did not know at the time but our first date was very "on brand" for Josh and me. We went to Four Bullets Brewery in Richardson and then went to Shady's to grab dinner afterwards. J: I had a good feeling about things because she asked if I would finish her chicken strips, even after I'd finished my tacos. A: The conversation was so easy and the first date nervous butterflies quickly disappeared. Josh was quite the gentleman when it started raining and despite not having an umbrella to offer, he pulled out a Texas Rangers cap so that my hair wouldn't get wet when we ran into the restaurant. J: I still had one for myself as well, of course. A: We knew we wanted to hang out again soon but with it being the start of football season, schedules were super packed. However, with the Dallas Cowboys season opener two nights later, we figured out a way to hang out and watched the Cowboys beat the Giants. J: Somehow the Cowboys have a winning record during our relationship. A: From that moment, we both knew we had found someone special and tried to find any time we could to hang out.
J: I had her pretty well fooled by then and we decided to keep things going for good. By Christmas, I was cooking for her entire family. I didn't mess up the fajitas or steak for multiple gatherings at the house, and by then I figured she might keep me around. A: After surviving Thanksgiving and Christmas with the families, we were both all in! J: When Christmas rolled around, Allison get me a gift so thoughtful that I almost cried. ALMOST. A: Shortly after Christmas, I had to travel to India for work. It was a very difficult and stressful trip for me and I knew even more after that trip that I was going to spend forever with Josh. He was so supportive and calming despite my stress. That is true of our whole relationship. He is always the calming force needed when things get stressful. J: By the time summer rolled around, commuting for work sounded more appealing than commuting for dates. We took the plunge and she let me move in. A: "The Plunge" I think he really moved in for the pool and me being here too was an added bonus :) In October (middle of football season) we decided our lives weren't crazy enough and we wanted to add a dog to our little family. We adopted Tex from the Commerce shelter and now can't imagine a time without him. J: I knew for a long time that I was going to marry this girl, but I had two requirements - 1.) NICE shiny ring, 2.) I had to surprise her. If you know Allison at all, she is a planner. Down to the second sometimes. So surprising her is tough. In her desire for us to be the most adorable little family ever (goal achieved by the way), she hired Evan for Christmas photos. I let the regular photos get taken, then BAM! hit a knee and asked her to spend forever with me. A: I WAS CERTAINLY SURPRISED! For someone rarely at a loss for words, it felt like an eternity before I could speak. Of course I said YES and can't wait for our future together!
