It all started at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. As much as Brittany and James would love to tell you that they met in the library studying for their midterms, they’d be lying. It was a Wednesday, and at ECU there was a reason to party just about everyday. Wednesdays were for wine. So naturally they both ended up at a local bar in downtown to celebrate “wine Wednesday”. Brittany was sipping on her white wine (a sign of the times) with her friends and James doesn’t recall the type of wine he was drinking with his guys but notes he did have a few Fireball shots. Well, the Fireball gave James enough courage to get up on the stage and sing karaoke for the packed bar. As he was singing his best rendition of “Heartache on the Dance Floor” by Jon Pardi - he caught the attention of Brittany. After his performance, feeling like a rockstar, James jumped off the stage and came up to a fan, we will call her Brittany, and confidently asked: “how’d I do?” and in response he got a simple but flustered “good”. A little while later, James found Brittany at the bar again and began to sweet talk her. The conversation was light and nothing serious, but Brittany left that bar and insisted to a girlfriend that “he’s the one”, to which she giggled and brushed off. That night Brittany was so excited that she had to call her endearing mother, “Mommy”, and tell her about this James guy. Halloween was a couple weeks later, another big celebration at ECU. Brittany and James both showed up to a mutual friend’s Halloween party. James showed up as Popeye without his anchor tattoo and Brittany as a Taco Bell hot sauce. James’s lack of anchor tattoo was actually planned, he knew Brittany was going to be there and planned to have her draw it on for him. He approached Brittany to help and of course she gladly did with the very little artistic ability she had. They didn’t leave each others sides after that. So much so, that at the Halloween party, Brittany was accidentally pushed and James ended up in a trough of ice and beer. That night they found themselves seemingly alone amongst a crowd on a set of stairs; chatting about their aspirations and goals in life. After Halloween, James of course decided to play hard to get, so Brittany and her fierce competitiveness said “game on”. One night, James had a shift as a bouncer at Brittany’s favorite night club, “Stilllife”. Brittany had walked in with her friends and made it a point to make eye contact with James. However, she had no intention on going to talk to him and so she didn’t. That was it, game over - James quickly came to his senses and decided to get what he wanted. Things really got serious when James was spotted by many, sprinting downtown from a bar with his guys to the bar Brittany was at. Brittany’s friends spotted him come in and were so excited. Brittany, being over the game, said “he can find me”. James quickly did just that, and laid out a terrible pickup line to which Brittany just smiled and giggled. As much as Brittany would like to say she won - they both came out winners, as they found their forever.
