It all started at the Indiana Dunes National Park. Although Fordyce and Brittany were both on trail crews working separately, they were staying at the same housing and ate meals together. After a couple weeks, and a few trips to Chicago, they knew it was something special. In a grand romantic gesture, Fordyce volunteered to finish hiking the Appalachian Trail with Brittany the following summer, and the rest is history.
After several years, 6000 miles of hiking together, and the completion of the Triple Crown of Hiking for Brittany; on the last day of their 2022 Pacific Crest Trail Thru-hike, Fordyce got down on one knee and asked her if she'd want to hike together for the rest of their lives. Luckily she said yes, and they had an incredible last day on trail, before hitch hiking with an incredibly nice couple back to Seattle and making their way slowly back to "society".
