Due to the high transmission rate of the omicron variant of COVID-19, it is advised that you wear a mask whenever you're indoors, or not able to social distance outside. The Fives asks that all guests wear masks indoors, except in your guest room, or when eating/drinking at the restaurants.
U.S citizens and Permanent Residents, regardless of vaccination status, will need to present airlines with proof of vaccination and of a negative COVID-19 test (PCR or antigen) within 1 day of their return flight. More information regarding US restrictions can be found here: https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/notices/covid-3/coronavirus-mexico For Canada, the government is requiring a negative COVID PCR test within 3 days of entry, regardless of vaccination status. For more information for travel back into Canada, please see here: https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/covid-vaccinated-travellers-entering-canada#entry-vaccinated
Yes! The Fives currently offers PCR and antigen testing. PCR tests are $100 USD and antigen tests are $30 USD. However, ANTIGEN testing will be free for our guests staying 4+ nights at the resort. More information can be found here (note that the policy was changed to include free antigen testing for 7+ nights, but our contract was signed before this change, so antigen testing is free for guests staying 4+ nights): https://landings.thefiveshotels.com/travel_with_peace2?_ga=2.39443363.1279388766.1632780984-193743159.1632780983

All food and drinks are included in the price you have paid for you room, EXCEPT at certain shops, like the Marley cafe, ice cream shop, and Casa Rosa. Certain top shelf liquors and wines/beers are also available at an extra charge at some of the bars and restaurants (e.g., at our site visit, we learned that the Thai restaurant only offers one red or white wine as part of the all-inclusive plan, but Sea Olive and Arezzo offer a few types, which were quite good). Note that dinner reservations are required for the restaurants and we HIGHLY recommend you make your reservations for your entire stay soon after you check in. This can be done at the Concierge building located near your room.
We would advise that you bring cash with you if you would like to tip any hotel staff during your stay (bartenders, waiters, housekeepers, etc.) We strongly advise bringing cash with you before arriving at the resort, as the ATMs on site charge an additional 7% "exchange fee" on top of the usual flat ATM fee per transaction. The resort happily accepts USD, so no need to exchange your currency for Mexican pesos.
If you would like, feel free to bring your own cup/thermos for drinks at the bar. If you are a pool junkie, we advise bringing your own float, as the resort does not provide them. We also strongly advise sunscreen and bug repellent, as the Mexican sun is no joke, and mosquitoes tend to come out in the evenings (the reception will be outside).
