How we met

Small town Southern Belle meets small town Northern Boy

Kat had recently moved across the country from Mississippi to New York for a job with the VA, excited about new adventures. Brian, a NY local, had recently separated from a long term relationship and moved into a new home, looking for a new phase in life. Both of us decided to give "the online dating thing" a try. At first, a few texts were exchanged, but nothing too serious. A couple months passed and Brian decided to give it another try. Much to his surprise, Kat was still very interested in chatting, so after a few more weeks of messaging and calls, a date was scheduled. We met in a Corning local coffee shop, and talked for a few hours over coffee. A quick introduction to Brian's puppies and a tour around the Corning Glass Museum made for a memorable beginning to our story.

The Proposal

Sunrises & Traditions

The morning of our first anniversary, we woke up around the same time and saw the beginning of a magnificent sunrise in Canandaigua. Kat mentioned that it probably was beautiful down by the lake and Brian, ever the opportunist, said "let's go!" So two coats, a blanket, and a quick drive later, we were sitting down on the benches on the Canandaigua Lake Pier. After talking for a little bit about the beautiful sunrise and making this a yearly tradition, Brian decided to add some more excitement to the day. He knelt down (in the snow!), asked Kat to marry him, and of course she said yes! Brian screwed the ring on her finger real tight (just like Kat's grandmother had instructed him too). Let the wedding planning begin!
