We met in Mr. Nataro's 6th-grade health class. Brian would hang out with the Menlo Park Terrace crew, and we would play basketball in the summertime. Fast forward to high school we connected over our love of martial arts and art. At my graduation party Brian saved the day with rescuing the trapped pinata and after a little sparring (there were gloves and some minor bruising for him), did he ask me out on our first date. Since then we've both graduated Kean and went to graduate school together.
It was one of the hottest days of the summer and we had decided to do a group bike ride at one of our favorite places called Duke Farms. We rode around the grounds, visited the orchid greenhouse and made our way to the lakes. We decided to head to one of the bridges and show everyone where we had rescued my phone in the icy lake during one of my birthday adventures (long story). It was by the side of the lake with the waterfalls in the background that Brian got on one knee and asked me to be his Always. I said yes! Best day ever!
After the proposal, Brian and I took a cross country road trip away from our families and moved to the lovely gem state of Idaho. We live in a quaint little town that has huckleberry everything, fry sauce, farmers markets, and the occasional moose. Brian is currently teaching, and finishing his PhD. in Human Factor Psychology, at the University of Idaho and was awarded a fellowship in unintentional injury with SOPHE/CDC. I currently am working as the Executive Director for Family Promise of the Palouse, a non-profit homeless shelter that focuses on keeping families together. Funny enough we are an affiliate of Family Promise which was founded in Summit, NJ! After 19 years of knowing each other and 12 years of dating, and 3 years of being engaged, we are so excited to finally celebrate this magical union with all of our close friends and family!
