Here’s my top recommendations if you don’t know where to start: BARS: Haberdasher (speakeasy with amazing cocktails) Miniboss (bar with arcade games and awesome cocktails) Guild house (board games + tap house) Uproar brewing RESTAURANTS: Mezcal (Dressy Mexican restaurant) Taqueria Eduardo (THE spot for authentic Mexican ) Meso Modern (Amazing Greek food) COFFEE: Philz Con azúcar (also great for brunch) Chromacafe
Another great area for shopping and restaurants. Top recommendations are: The Table, Mimosas cafe for brunch, All Natural Day Spa for massage, facials and/or sauna.
If you fly into Oakland and want to check out some sites before heading into San Jose this is a great spot for a walk. You can take the Bart to/from San Jose for easy access.
For those who are interested in taking a day trip, Napa Valley is just under 2 hours from San Jose. A great spot for great wine, beautiful views and a famous Calistoga mud bath. If you don’t want to drive all the way to Napa, check out a full day tour departing from San Francisco. One option is linked here.
