Kathryn coordinated and hosted a surprise 80th Birthday reception and dinner for her Mother Rose Scozzafava at Congressional Country Club for a small group of her mother's former students and family friends. It was a sit-down dinner for just 30 people and Karen Krikorian, a good friend of Rose, former student and a classmate of Brad's asked if there was room for three of Rose's former students to be included in the Birthday celebration. There was not room at first but at the date drew near, there were three openings and Brad was a last minute add. WHEW!!!
We went to see Luke Bryan in concert that Saturday evening. Kathryn wasn't that familiar with country music or Luke Bryan but she was up for the experience. We relaxed in the VIP club listening to the opening acts before we headed for our Box seats to take in the concert. The next day we visited two of Virginia's 276 wineries. And that was a wonderful beginning...
The day started with a morning horseback ride on the beach with a shared coconut halfway through the ride. Then a relaxing and romantic couple's massage in the Spa. A sunset photo shoot to make-up for not taking any pictures when we went to Amelia Island, FL in October. The photo shoot ended up on the beach at sunset where we would have a romantic private dinner on the beach. Then the photographer had Kathryn turn towards the sunset while Brad got down on one knee to propose. We were the only couple on the beach for the evening. It was perfect!
