First came work, then came marriage. You could say our story is a classic Jim and Pam story from the show The Office: Alex and Jeff met at Oracle where they both started working in tech sales after college. Jeff started in 2015 after graduating from UVA with a B.A in Foreign Affairs and Alex started in 2016 after graduating from UMass, Amherst with a B.A in Economics and IT. Alex first caught Jeff's eye in a weekly Toastmasters meeting when she was giving her introductory speech to the group. Toastmasters is a public speaking club that Jeff was a part of at the time. Shortly after, they found themselves on the same team and sitting right across from each other every day for a whole year. At first, they didn't think anything of it. Coming into work quickly turned into excitement to see each other. Coffee runs turned into lunch dates which turned into date nights and hanging out every week. They made it official after a dinner date at Lolita's in Back Bay, Boston. After surviving a pandemic, traveling the country, job promotions, and meeting each other's families, Jeff and Alex knew they would tie the knot soon. According to some, (cough, cough Alex) it took Jeff a little longer than expected to pop the question! The Proposal: Jeff knew Alex wanted to take her family to the quaint coastal town of Rockport, MA. He did some research and found the perfect place - a nearby lighthouse south of town. He planned to propose to Alex at the pier of the lighthouse at sunset. Although Jeff had mentioned he wanted to check out the lighthouse for pictures, Alex did not think anything of it and took everyone sightseeing and shopping. As the sun started going down, it nearly gave Jeff a heart attack as he was trying to time the proposal with the setting sun. After finally arriving at the lighthouse and posing for pictures along the pier, the last picture Alex and Jeff took turned into the proposal! Just as Alex walked over to her brother, Clifford, to take a look at the picture he just took, Jeff held her back and started looking funny and really nervous. Alex immediately said, "Oh my gosh are you....." Jeff nodded his head, grabbed her hands, and powered through his proposal on top of Alex's dad, Tony, yelling from afar "get on your knee!" Not knowing that that was exactly what Jeff was about to do. Needless to say, there were tears, there was joy, and she said yes. We can't wait to celebrate with you at our wedding ceremony and reception in June!!
