It was through the Internet, our modern day matchmaker, that we first found one another. After a swipe to the right, a week of online banter, and more than a little Facebook investigating, we agreed to meet. Standing outside of The Cheesecake Factory, I got my first glimpse of McCaa. She was fashionably late as usual and driving her beat up Rav4. I wasn't quite sure how this was going to go! A couple hours of pleasant conversation and a stroll around the mall later, we decided that a second date was in order in about a weeks time. That didn't go as planned! After texting each other all day, we met the very next night for milkshakes at the Los Gatos Diner. And that set the tone for the rest of our relationship. Never apart for very long and always surrounded by delicious food and great conversation.

I still can't believe that I managed to pull off such a surprise! It was no easy feat. I shopped, I compared, I bought a ring, and I even managed to get all of our immediate family in town for the event. McCaa woke up on the morning of the 26th of December 2017 and was immediately puzzled. I had left a note for her with instructions to go to the local nail salon and meet her traveling buddy for a day of adventure. It was then that she suspected it might be a special day. Upon arrival, she met my sister who had flown in from out of town. This was only the beginning of a long day filled with many surprises. Together they went on a scavenger hunt with stops at all of our favorite places. The hunt culminated in a long trek up a hill in San Jose. At the top, McCaa found me on one knee set against the beautiful backdrop of the city, making this her favorite place of all. The last stop for the day was The Wine Cellar, where we met our families who were excited to celebrate our new engagement. After a few toasts and laughs we were off to start the next chapter of our lives together.
