Our story began on our first day of medical school when I picked the seat in front of Nate in the lecture hall. As someone who is always early, I was impressed that he managed to beat me to class every day. We spent most mornings chatting about school, but he always found a way to make me smile with his subtle compliments. Our story continued after we both moved to Lumberton, NC for our clinical rotations. As our friendship progressed, Nate’s compliments became less subtle, and I realized he might be into me. It took my mom’s constant raving about Nate for me to give him a chance and I am so happy I did! I guess you can say momma knows best!

Nate always knew that I wanted my sisters around when he proposed, so when my little sister couldn’t come on our family trip to Cabo, I had no idea that he would propose. Nate said he originally refused the idea of proposing in Cabo but after asking my sisters for help Emma told him he was proposing in Cabo, no questions asked! One night, my family convinced me that we should take pictures before a nice dinner so we all got dressed up for the evening. Right before Nate proposed, a random person asked if we wanted him to take our family picture, but then I heard him quickly say “Never mind, oops!” When I turned around Nate was on one knee. I can’t remember a word he said to me, but it was the easiest YES I have ever said!
