Woolly's Tube Park If skiing isn't your thing this on mountain thrill is the ideal spot for some family fun. This attraction will have you racing down snowy groomed tracks while comfortably seated in a large (some would say Mammoth) inner tube.
Erick Schat's Bakery Legendary dutch bakery with the best bread and goodies this side of the Mississippi.
Mammoth Mountain Shred the GNAR brah If you plan on skiing or snowboarding at Mammoth Mountain it is on the IKON pass. If you do not have a season pass try linking up with a wedding guest who does so that you can take advantage of the buddy pass discount. Rental gear is available on the mountain from their pro shops or in town at either WaveRave (Snowboards only) or Footloose (Ski's only) For those who don't ski, it is possible to ride the gondola up to the top of the mountain for a truly epic view
Hot Springs Something off the beaten bath for those looking for an adventure. Since these hot springs are literally off road there is a possibility that they will not be accessible at the time of our wedding. Follow the link below for a comprehensive run down of everything you need to know (including google map pins of all the hot springs)
Tamarack Lodge There is a developed cross country skiing track at Tamarack Lodge. Follow the link below for additional information
Snow Mobile Tours For a truly remarkable day there are several Snow Mobile outfitters in the Mammoth area. Unfortunately neither Ava or I have been on one of these tours so we are unable to give a proper recommendation. Outfitters: https://snowmobilemammoth.com/ http://www.bishopmotosports.com/
Mammoth Rock 'N' Bowl Bowling for the indoor enthusiast
Double Eagle Spa & Athletic Club A variety of facilities and services for exercising and pampering
June Mountain Quintessential mom and pop ski town. June mountain is on the IKON pass and the lift tickets are more affordable than those at Mammoth. This mountain is more low key which is great for beginners and those looking to avoid lift lines. Rental gear is available on the mountain or you can rent equipment from a shop in Mammoth Lakes. The recommended shops are WaveRave (Snowboards only) or FootLoose (Ski's only). The town itself is absolutely darling. It is undeveloped it retains that ideal mountain town charm. Unfortunately the dining options in town leave a bit to be desired but they have the very best brewery in the Eastern Sierras.
Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest This gem of an area features the beautifully twisted sculptures of the ancient bristle cone pines. The reservation features a quick and easy Discovery Trail Loop that will allow you to see dozens of trees in a quick afternoon outing.
Death Valley National Park Death Valley National Park is perhaps one of the most iconic national parks in our country. Getting there is going to be quite the outing but who know when you'll be within spitting distance again.
Scenic Route For those of you coming in from Reno I strongly suggest taking a scenic drive south of Mammoth down Highway 395. The mountain views along this stretch of road are absolutely breathtaking. There is no need to drive any further than Olanche, with anything further than Lone Pine being excessive. There are towns, saloons, restaurants and shop all along the 395 you can also browse through the other listed activities to plan out a proper tour of this iconic stretch of highway.
Laws Railroad Museum This historic site features a number of preserved wild west buildings as well as a fully restored 1909 engine and rail cars.
While not featured on the PGA tour the area has a number of 18 hole courses that feature breathtaking mountain views. There is no guarantee that the courses in Mammoth Lakes will be open; however, it would be shocking for there to be snow at the Bishop Country Club. Manzanar A little history for those looking for some education. This site records one of the tragic chapters of our history. It is centered around a World War II interment camp.
