We actually “met” through Bumble (a dating app) 4-22-17. Kiel was still in the fire academy and I was in Oklahoma training for a new job. We spent the following week talking through the app and texting when we made plans to meet that Friday after my flight home. We decided on a lazy movie night in and watched Gardians of the Galaxy and Monsters University.

The night before he proposed, Kiel was at work and asked me to go to our guest room to look for something. There I found a note that told me to be packed and ready in the morning for him to pick me up after he gets off of work. When he picked me up he didn’t tell me where we were going until we made it up to Fredricksburg, TX. First stop was Enchanted Rock. When we got to the front of the line the park employee told us the park was full and we needed to go online to make an appointment for later. We ended up heading back to the town square, had lunch, and walked around the local shops. We ended our trip back at Enchanted Rock at the top where we laid down, listened to music, and watched the sunset. What I could not see was the little wooden box Kiel had pulled out of his backpack until he placed it in front of me and asked me to marry him! On the way home he showed me an envelope of pictures he had taken over the last few months with my engagement ring out and about behind me. Lastly I was surprised by our family and friends at the house waiting to celebrate together including my parents, sister, and grandparents who lived out of the state at the time.
