Jared and Ashley met in high school. Both were volleyball players at Seminole High School. Ashley's coach thought she could improve her vertical and general volleyball skills by attending the boy's team's practice. She ended up meeting this weird yet awesome human named Jared. They became fast friends and remained friends throughout high school and college. Ashley moved away from home after college but decided to take a vacation back home in the fall of 2014. During this vacation, Ashley and Jared reconnected (AKA Ashley told Jared he was to take her out on a date, and Jared, being a nice guy, said yes). Ashley lost her job in December of 2014, but moved back home and she and Jared starting dating in earnest. Ashley went back to school to become a veterinary technician with Jared literally holding her sanity together. After graduating school and passing her national board examination, she was offered a job at the Red River Zoo in Fargo, ND. Jared and Ashley moved to Moorhead, MN and Jared was offered an IT job at Bank Forward shortly thereafter. The rest, as they say, is history.

The whole day was a weird day for Ashley. She wasn't in a great mood, and so Jared suggested going to play trivia at one of the local breweries. Jared and Ashley actually won trivia - the first time they'd won playing as a couple. They drove to trivia separately, so they drove back home in their own cars and Jared beat Ashley home. Ashley got out of her car and Jared came out of the house into the garage. He looked at her and said, "Hey babe? It's time." Ashley asked, "Time for what?" and began looking at her cell phone to figure out why 9:13 PM was so significant, and Jared got down on one knee with a ring in his hand. Ashley asked him if he was serious (five or six times, for confirmation) and he reassured her that he was. Jared asked, "Will you marry me?" and Ashley said, "YES!" And the rest of you lovely people said, "FINALLY!!!!!!"
