How We Met

Like any classic 21st century love story, Ashley and Fraser met on a dating app in the summer of 2018. She thought he was cute because he resembled one of her favorite fictional characters and he was just happy to match with someone. Thankfully, on Labor Day that year, it rained and Ashley had to cancel her original girl’s-day-out-in-Miami plans so they went on their first date. This was the first time Fraser, being from Scotland, was happy to see the rain. After the time they spent that first evening eating sushi, sipping mojitos, and getting beer spilled on them by a professional golfer, the two could be expected to be together some part of every weekend. From watching both kinds of football to Fraser getting stuck watching Ashley study to eating and drinking their way through all different kinds of South Florida cuisine, Ashley and Fraser grew closer. They realized their character and values were just as well aligned as their hobbies and interests. As the hot Florida fall started to fade into a barely less hot winter, they both realized that their relationship was going to take a serious turn one way or another; it would either progress into something more or completely dissolve into nothing. Ashley had accepted a job in Arizona and Fraser would be working in Florida indefinitely. After a few tearful nights (on Ashley’s part), the two decided to bet against the odds and see if they could make a long distance relationship work. Luckily, this is a classic 21st century love story. The countless hours on Facetime and the use of many frequent flier miles brought Ashley and Fraser closer together despite how many miles were between them, leading them to where they are today.

We Said I Do

Ashley and Fraser knew shortly after starting to date that this relationship was the real thing. One November morning in 2019, Ashley awoke to a phone call from Fraser asking if she just wanted to do the damn thing. She had horrible morning breath and pinched herself to make sure she wasn’t dreaming. Once she realized she was actually awake, she said yes!! The two threw together a small ceremony in just nine days. Fraser and Ashley were married in the Superstition Mountains in Apache Junction, Arizona at sunset on November 23, 2019. Fraser’s mother and brother were able to secure a flight from Scotland. Ashley’s mother and father were also able to be in attendance and flew in from Detroit. Fraser’s roommate conducted the ceremony and Ashley’s roommates were witnesses. Fraser’s brother and Ashley’s high school friend signed their marriage license. Ashley’s friends took photos and videos for the couple. Despite having a beautiful and romantic wedding, Ashley and Fraser were missing members of their family and many, many of their friends. They wanted to include all of you in their celebration and cannot wait to share their love with each of you!
