We both had just started graduate school at Yale School of Medicine, Michael studying medicine and Annabelle in the Physician Associate Program. Just a few weeks into school, we were paired together for "ILCE" - Interprofessional Longitudinal Clinical Experience - where we met weekly in the hospital to meet patients and practice our history taking and physical exams. After several months of becoming good friends, learning from each other and with each other, library and coffee shop study sessions, and the joint excitement of the approaching ski season, Michael finally asked Annabelle out on a date. For our 3rd date, we planned a ski trip up to Killington, Vermont, and when Michael was able to keep up with Annabelle on a pair of skis, Annabelle knew it was meant to be. With the start of the pandemic that spring, we fled to Michael's family's house at Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. What was meant to be a long-weekend turned into a month, with repeated trips back to the peaceful oasis throughout the pandemic. This became an incredibly special place to both of us, and to Michael, the obvious location for a perfect proposal.
