These are listed from easiest to most difficult: Animas River Trail - easy, paved trail through the town section of the Animas River Junction Creek Trail - easy trail just outside of town, hike to Gudy's rest for the best views Vallecito Creek Trail - out-and-back hike through the headwaters of Vallecito Cascade Creek Trail - out-and-back hike to a waterfall through meadows of wildflowers Animas City Mountain - loop trail for views over Durango and the Animas Valley Smelter Mountain - quick hike up and down for views over Durango and the La Plata's Purgatory Flats - a down and back up hike to the cascade river, the way out can be steep! Ice Lakes Trail - hike up to amazing alpine lakes Engineer Mountain - summit one of our most iconic mountains in the area!
