El morro was built to protect the city of San Juan from seaborne enemies. This is a MUST SEE for visitors to San Juan. It is also a National Park with free entrance to US military. **El morro fue construido para proteger la ciudad de San Juan de los enemigos marítimos. Esta es una visita obligada para los visitantes de San Juan. También es un parque nacional con entrada gratuita al ejército estadounidense.

If you want to Try something different for a day trip outside San Juan to the East go to el Yunque. Look for the Juan Diego or Las Minas fall...you won't regret it. Entrance fee is $4 about 1hr east of San Juan. Toll Rd required. Lots of tours take you there with transportation from San Juan included. El Yunque es un bosque tropical, las caidas de Juan Diego o Los Minas son bellas y pueden nadar en ellas! entrada es $4 y se encuentran bastante tours saliendo de San Juan con transporte/entrada incluido.
This place is nothing short of AWESOME... if you have time in PR definitely come here. It is the 2nd best one of the 5 around the world (3 in PR). It is 2 or so hours from San Juan (traffic getting out of town can suck sometimes). Call them and see if they'd arrange transportation. They are really flexible.

This is a little out of the way west from San Juan. However, it really is amazing to experience it. Literally in the middle of nowhere. Bonus for those that are also 007 movie or space geeks.
If you've decided to go to the observatory... might as well visit this very unique area where Tainos native Puerto Ricans seemed to play and worship.
