NOT RENTING A CAR? It is possible to take a bus, then a train, then another bus to get to the wedding from the NICE airport ... but we've learned that it is NOT very convenient. Here is another option: A private shuttle bus. It can take up to 8 passengers and their luggage. The fare is 120 Euro, each way. That's per bus (not per person). The contact's name is Elio. • Email: suegiuperlavalle@gmail.com • Telephone: +39 389 000 7340 • Text on WhatsApp: +39 335 614 6739 He recommends sending an email a few days in advance with your travel details. • Your contact’s name • Contact info • Arrival date and time • Airline flight number Elio says: - We will have signs with the names of those arriving and will wait for them at the exit where they come out. - If the flight is delayed, no problem, the driver always checks for any delays and I coordinate all arrivals ad departures. Elio also has a website: http://www.nizzatransfer.it/
Travel Note
Some villages in Italy sound medieval because they are! People have been happily living in ancient hamlets such as Isolabona and Apricale for centuries -- even without the Internet! That said, if free and fast Wi-Fi is important to you, be sure to check with your host(s) before you book your accommodations. While cell-phone coverage and the Internet are generally good and available in all urban areas, these modern amenities can be spotty in rural towns and villages -- be sure to ask first.
Travel Note
Airbnbs are everywhere these days, from small rooms to luxury suites. While we cannot personally vouch for the ones listed on this site, our experience with Airbnbs in Italia has been generally quite positive. And there sure are a lot to choose from.

If hotels are more to your liking, there is an embarrassment of choices in this holiday haven. And with all the competition, there are great deals to be had -- especially because the high tourist season ends in mid-September. Italians -- and summer tourists -- have gone back to work, and there is less competition for that coveted patch of sand. Plus, both the sand and sea are still warm in early October -- what's not to love? Plus, plus ... the seaside town of Bordighera, where many hotels are located, is only 25 minutes to the wedding venue in Isolabona. Check out some of these options. https://www.tripadvisor.com/SmartDeals-goldg194694-Bordighera_Italian_Riviera_Liguria-Hotel-Deals.html

Located almost directly across from the marina in Bordighera, Villa Garnier has rooms on two floors in an elegant period setting. Villa Garnier was the home of the architect Charles Garnier and his family. Today the Villa is a holiday home managed by the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Aosta; the rooms remain substantially as they had been created by Garnier: the drawings on the walls, the frescoes, the decorations, the sculptures are the same as those admired by the architect and his family.
