Travel Note
Three airports serve the DC Metro area: Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA), Dulles International Airport (IAD), and Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI). Each has pros and cons, but deals can be found anywhere and vary based on where you're coming from. Notes about each are below. Overall, if the fare is similar, we recommend flying into and out of DCA. Rental cars are available at all airports and Union Station.
Flight
This is the smallest airport in the metro but the most convenient to DC. Locals oten refer to this airport as 'national'. Downtown DC is a short ride on the DC Metro (our subway) from DCA. Driving to the airport from our venue will take about 15 minutes, depending on traffic.
Flight
Dulles is about 25 miles from the city and on a toll road. The DC Metro (our subway) expanded to reach Dulles a few years ago, which has made access much easier! It's still an hour ride from the city on the metro and about 35 minutes in good traffic driving.
Flight
Washington, DC is 35 miles from Baltimore, MD. BWI is closer to Baltimore, but it can sometimes be more convenient than flying out of IAD, especially from our part of the city (Northeast). There is no DC Metro (our subway) access from BWI,` but the MARC Commuter train runs between BWI and DC, and Amtrak does too. Both drop off at Union Station in DC, a mile and a half from our venue.
Train
Amtrak is a great option for those traveling between New Haven, NYC, and DC. It's been a few years since Andrew has done this, but flying JetBlue from Hartford, CT (BDL) to DCA used to be cheaper than Amtrak. Still, Amtrak is just so much more relaxing. It can be worth it if you have time, and the fare is similar to flying. Amtrak departs from Union Station, 1.5-miles from our venue (30 minute walk, 3 metro stops away on the Red line.)
Travel Note
We have secured one, limited-quantity room block for our wedding, at a brand-new hotel that offers decent rates. You may use the link below to access those rooms at the Arlo DC, but know they were on par with rates you could find by booking directly from their site, and their page or 3rd party providers may in fact be cheaper -- they have a big sale through end-of-year! With all that, we do not have an 'official' hotel for our wedding. Feel free to book wherever suits your needs. The below are some recommendations based on proximity to the venue, quality, and decent rates. DC also has many VRBOs, AirBnBs, and other accommodations. We strongly recommend contacting one of us before booking to learn more about the location.
Hotel
Luxury hotel steps from the venue. Gorgeous amenities and highly praised restaurants and bars, including their award-winning 'speakeasy' Silver Lyan.
Hotel
Creative hotel conveniently located in the center of the city! 7 mins. walking (.3 mi) to the venue, on the budget-friendlier side.
Hotel
Located ten minutes (walking, .5 mi) north of the venue and a block away from the Green Line, this hotel is well-situated for a quiet night's sleep after exploring the city. Get the best rates if you create a Marriott account (free)!
Hotel
The room block hotel mentioned above: this hotel is brand new, so we don't know too many details, but it was gorgeous when we did a walk-through. It's nearby (12 minute walk, .5 mile) and cost-effective, especially if you book directly from their site instead of through our block with Black Friday deals through end-of-year.
Hotel
The area around this hotel is all business during weekdays and quiet at night. It's about a 20-minute walk to the venue, .8 mile, and budget-friendlier.
Hotel
This modern luxury hotel is located near Union Station and is a great option for those arriving via train. 20-minute walk (.9 mi) to the venue.
