What's the weather like in early May in DC?

Answer

In a word: unpredictable! You could get low 80s or low 50s, and possibly rainy or muggy! Packing layers is a good idea, especially if the temperature is low but humidity makes you warm.

Is the wedding outdoors?

Answer

The venue has a covered outdoor roof space for cocktail hour and hanging throughout the night, but the event is largely indoors.

I have dietary restrictions, will there be enough for me to eat?

Answer

We have a lot of food ordered, suiting vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, and soy-free dietary needs. You will have plenty to eat, so please come hungry.

What is the easiest way to get to the venue? What about parking?

Answer

If you're driving, there are a number of parking garages nearby. We noted some parking spots on our Google Map here: https://shakouribenson.com/map If you're in DC, metro to the red/yellow/green line stop: Gallery Place-Chinatown and exit at 9th & G streets. If you're staying nearby, the neighborhood is very walkable.

Is the venue ADA accessible?

Answer

Yes, there are two elevators on either side of the lobby as you enter the building.

Do I need a rental car in DC?

Answer

Most don't, but maybe! Public transportation in DC is clean, reliable, and affordable. If you're comfortable with public transit and don't plan to venture outside of DC proper, you likely won't need a car. Be ready to walk; pack good walking shoes! Scooters, bikes, and e-bikes are available to rent via apps everywhere. If you want to hit the suburbs, you'll probably need a car. We recommend only renting for the time you need it. Parking is not always accessible, and the cost to park can easily be more than the cost to rent.

I forgot to RSVP. Can I still join the celebration?

Answer

Unfortunately, if you did not RSVP on the site or let Andrew or Shireen know directly that you can attend by March 15, you will not be able to join our wedding gathering. Our venue has its own security service that is not within our control, and they will not let anyone into the building that isn't on the list we provide them ahead of time.

Kids: Yes or No?

Answer

We kindly recommend that children under 12 years old sit this one out. We are happy to cover a subscription of Care.com or similar service for anyone needing assistance securing sitters.
