One of the most picturesque locations in the area. Situated in between the Adirondacks of New York and the Green Mountains of Vermont, Tourterelle offers breath-taking views while serving delicious French cuisine made with local Vermont products. While we may be a bit biased, Tourterelle ranks very high on our 'Favorite VT Restaurants' list. Andrew highly recommends the Steak Frites and Nicole recommends the homemade Veggie Burger.
A local hotspot for coffee and delicious pastries! Grab yourself a croissant or a breakfast sandwich on a homemade english muffin and take a stroll down to Middlebury College's campus to take in the stunning mountain views.
If you know us, you know that bagels were a huge part of our life in College (and after while living in Vermont!) We both swear that Vermont has the best bagels (sorry NY and NJ.) Grab a bagel and take a walk through the historic Middlebury downtown. Andrew recommends the Cheddar Dill bagels and Nicole recommends the Garlic & Cilantro cream cheese.
Vermont is the home to Woodchuck Cider, which was first founded in 1991 in Proctorsville. Visit their cider house located right in Middlebury where they offer self-guided tours, tastings and 20 ciders on tap. Nicole highly recommends the Pearsecco and the Berry Snap.
Looking for one of the couple's favorite pizza places in the area? Check out Folino's located in Shelburne. Folino's offers delicious wood-fired pizzas and is also located right next to Fiddlehead Brewery -- because what is better than pizza and beer?! The couple recommends the Buff Chick and the BK Special pizzas. Fiddlehead's flagship beer is a favorite of the groom.
The bride & groom's 'guilty pleasure' while attending St. Mike's. Citizen Cider features a number of tasty ciders and delicious bites. If you get lucky and can make it on a Thursday -- check out our favorite thing that Citizen has to offer -- Hot Dog & a Can!
In the mood for some comfort food? Check out Our House Bistro. Located just down the road from St. Mike's, they offer an extensive mac & cheese menu, as well as other delicious bites. Andrew highly recommends the Poutine Mac and Nicole highly recommends the Caprese Mac (or the Chicken Pot Pie Mac if they have it on special.)
Another favorite of the bride & groom. Enjoy views of the Winooski falls while munching on delicious tavern-style food with an upscale flare and a large selection of drinks. Nicole highly recommends the Weaver Street Margarita and Andrew is a big fan of their Steak Frites.
The location of the our first date in Vermont. Bluebird BBQ offers a number of slow-cooked meats and tasty from-scratch sides. And don’t forget to try some of their special sauces! The Alabama White sauce is a MUST. Some of Nicole & Andrew’s recommendations include: the mac & cheese, the brisket, the brussel sprouts, the smoked wings, and the maple lemonade.
Considered a moderately challenging trail in the area that offers stunning views of the Adirondacks, Lake Champlain, and the Champlain Valley at the top. At the summit you'll also find the foundation of the former Grandview Hotel that was built in 1870. This trail is dog friendly, but they must be leashed at all times.
Considered a moderately challenging trail, check out Mount Philo -- Vermont's first state park! The summit offers views Lake Champlain Valley and the Adirondacks. Mount Philo also has an access road for those looking to take a quick drive up to the top. Another dog friendly location, but they must be leashed at all times.
Looking to get a taste of everything Vermont has to offer? Visit the iconic Church Street Marketplace right in the heart of downtown Burlington. Spend some time shopping in all of the local shops, or grab a bite to eat at one of the many local restaurants. And don’t forget to get yourself a maple cremee while enjoying the views of Lake Champlain!
