What the heck is Steampunk?

Answer

Steampunk is retro-styling, mostly influenced by the fashion of the steam age, but with a futuristic twist. Think Sherlock Holmes meets C-3PO.. Steampunk is a movement, an aesthetic and a literary and artistic genre that combines Victorian ideas and influences with industrial and mechanical influences from the 1890's and beyond. The best way to see what it looks like is to just google Victorian Steampunk fashion--- or click on the tab on this website! There are sub-genre's of steampunk; one is Victorian and another is Apocalyptic, but for the purposes of dressing for this wedding, either is fine. Remember, this is NOT a requirement, just a fun suggestion!
