This is the most common question we've received and the short answer is, yes! Cartagena is the most visited and safest city in all of Colombia. Like any international tourist destination, be aware of surroundings. A few words from Anthony Bourdain on Colombia: "It’s ludicrous that this place exists and everyone doesn’t want to live here. Have I said yet how beautiful the place is? It’s incredible. It’s fun. And, yes, it’s safe. Every day, more so. And yet many people still don’t go—I would urge you to put aside the stereotypes."
Your passport should be valid for a minimum period of six months from the date of entry into Colombia. PLEASE CHECK YOUR PASSPORTS!
We want this to be an adult only trip. Cartagena is a lovely city and we understand if you want this to be a family vacation. However keep in mind, children will not be allowed to enter any of the events planned as it is an adult only wedding. All of the locations/atmospheres we have chosen are NOT kid friendly.
Credit cards are widely accepted. However, we recommend carrying a small amount of cash because many places are cash only. ATM's are also available around the city. The local currency is the Colombian Peso (COP). When paying with a credit card, you may be asked "En cuantas Cuotas?" (How many payments?). Customers in Colombia given the choice to divide the payment over one to 24 months. Foreign cardholders should just say "unavailable" (or one).
As of May 2022, Colombia is no longer requiring travelers to Colombia to be fully vaccinated in order to enter. If you are fully vaccinated (one dose of Johnson & Johnson or two doses of Moderna & Pfizer), you can show your vaccination card to gain entry to Colombia. If you are not vaccinated or partially vaccinated, you must provide a negative COVID test taken within 48 hours of your flight to Colombia. Reach out to us with any questions!
Yes, a majority of cell phone providers offer international plans that will allow the use of your phone while in Colombia. Nearly all restaurants, bars, and hotels have free WiFi as well. Please call your cell phone provider before traveling.
Welcome Cocktail: PLEASE WEAR WHITE! (tropical chic / cocktail) Beach Day: Resort Casual or Beach Attire for those that want to soak up the sun and enjoy the beach Ceremony and Reception: Formal
PLEASE wear white to the welcome party, the bride will be in color. Refrain from white or any variation of it for the rest of the events.
The Welcome Party and the Beach Day are outdoor events. The Ceremony and Reception will both be indoors, with a short, outdoor Cocktail Hour in between.
We will have transportation (speed boats) for Beach Day and small shuttles for guests staying at the Hyatt the day of the wedding and to the marina on beach day. If in the walled city, all events are a short, walking distance from each other. Taxis are very inexpensive for those that don't wish to walk.
If your invitation states that you have a +1, yes. If not, please bring your lovely self only and some dancing shoes.
There is typically a 10% tip (service) added to your bill. If service was extraordinary, feel free to add some extra pesos. If not, you will not be offending anyone. Please tip any tour guides you may use around 10%
