CHANGE OF PLANS & A DRIVE-BY RECEPTION

An updated plan from the parents of the bride

Due to COVID and social distancing regulations, the church is only allowing 50 people inside the sanctuary for the ceremony on the day of the wedding. Therefore, Amy Kathryn and Daniel have made the decision to continue with the wedding at the church on the same date with only the wedding party and immediate family. For the remaining guests, the ceremony will be live-streamed through YouTube. You can find the link on the "live-stream" page on this website. We will also post a link on this page during the week of the wedding, and share it to our Facebook pages. Meanwhile, the reception at Rucker place will be postponed until further notice so we can still have a fun celebration with all of our friends and family when large gatherings are safe again. However, we believe that this marriage is a thing to be celebrated, and want friends and family to have the opportunity to show their love and support for these two. We have come up with a plan for the friends and family of Amy Kathryn and Daniel to come be a part of this big day and celebrate their union. We are hoping you will join us to give them a proper send off to their new life as newlyweds! We have planned a small drive-by "reception" for them for after the ceremony that allows friends and family to celebrate on their wedding day while following the social distancing guidelines. These details can be found on the "schedule" page of the website. We thank you for bearing with us in these unusual times, and hope to see you there!

A Note from the Bride and Groom

regarding changes in plans

Even though the circumstances are unusual, we do not feel like we are missing out on or giving up anything. We feel so fortunate to have people that want to celebrate us in this new stage of life, and are extremely excited for this unique day that we will get to cherish in our memories as husband and wife. We are both incredibly thankful to all of the people that dedicated so much thought and prayer into this event, and to those that have offered their encouragement, love, support and ideas throughout this whole process. While we really hope to see everyone at the events planned to celebrate with us after the ceremony, we completely understand that due to distance/timing/etc. many will not be able to attend. Hopefully, the circumstances will be very different in a year, and we will get to have a big party to celebrate and dance with all our loved ones! Best wishes to all, Amy and Daniel

Our Story

How we met

We met each other at the University of Alabama through mutual friends after Amy transferred there in the fall of 2017. Quickly drawn to the other’s open-mindedness and willingness to discuss complex ideas, we formed a strong friendship which slowly but surely revealed its potential to us, interestingly enough, through our faith. There’s a Tim Keller quote that seemed to describe how we started feeling for each other: “To be loved but not known is comforting but superficial. To be known and not loved is our greatest fear. But to be fully known and truly loved is, well, a lot like being loved by God. It is what we need more than anything. It liberates us from pretense, humbles us out of our self-righteousness, and fortifies us for any difficulty life can throw at us.” Though we do not claim to fully and completely know one another, we have felt liberated, humbled and fortified through what the other has loved within us, similar to how we have experienced the power of feeling Christ’s love. Over time, we decided to make a commitment to one another to represent the same commitment God made to his people with that same love. We hope to honor him and bring him glory through our marriage.

What's next?

After getting married in August, we plan to take our new puppy, Winston, and move to New York City where Daniel currently has a job at a consulting firm and where Amy is hoping to teach secondary mathematics. We have absolutely no idea how long we will end up living in the big city, but we do hope to see all of our friends and family next year at our reception!
