Friends and family, we are excited to have you celebrate with us, and we can't wait to share this important moment with you all. Amar and I have both grown up in NYC, and are most definitely city kids, but our roots lie in Asia. Our families are from Bangladesh so our wedding celebration will be in the Bengali-Indian style. Traditionally our wedding lasts for multiple days, but for our sake and our guests we decided to have 3 days.
Mehandi — this is a fun night for close family and friends. This day signifies the start of the wedding celebrations. This night we eat, dance, tell stories and get henna done in our hands/feet for the upcoming celebrations.
Gaye Holud — this is one of my favorite celebrations, of-course as an attendee in the past. The bride and groom are showered with well wishes, for the journey ahead. There are dances done by family/friends, while the bride groom are fed sweets for the sweet things to come and turmeric is applied for luck/beauty/ well wishes.
