We met in middle school. A mutual friend introduced us and from there we noticed each other anywhere from gym class to passing each other in the halls. All we knew was that it was the start of a beautiful friendship, little did we know that it was the start of forever!
After years of anticipation, we finally went on our first date. We went to dinner at McMenamin's on the waterfront and had dessert at Salt & Straw in Portland. Sitting in the truck while enjoying our ice cream Joey popped the question and asked Amanda to be his girlfriend but without hesitation, she said yes before he had a chance to finish asking her the question. From there on he knew he was in trouble!
The first time we said "I love you" was a bit of an accident! Amanda was on the phone with Joey while driving around with her best friend Jaden when right before they said goodbye Amanda accidentally said "I Love You." Right away Jaden looked at her and screamed out loud once Amanda realized what had just come out of her mouth she hung up the phone with no explanation. From there on out the "I Love Yous" never stopped flowing.
After attending Annalies and Marty's wedding in August Joey realized the magnitude of love they share is exactly the love we have for each other. After a few weeks of thinking about the concept of marriage, Joey went to get advice from his mom and while doing so his dad walked in and pulled him aside. Joe encouraged Joey that if what he felt in his heart was true then to go for it. Joey then thought about it for a few more days before he and his mom set out to find the perfect ring but not too long after searching they found the perfect one! Joey originally planned to pop the question in late December but decided to move up the proposal because he couldn't hold the secret any longer and luckily everything lined up perfectly with friends and family. On November 27th of 2020, Joey took Amanda out to the first play area of the cabin and got down on one knee moments later she said yes and turned around to the surprise of their friends and family cheering right behind them!
