Scenic drive is the #1 picturesque spot in El Paso for panoramic views of the El Paso-Juarez border. This spot and the surreal view of both cities and countries colliding is also the muse for Khalid's latest mixtape. It's a must-see and can easily be a super quick trip!
This urban open space celebrates the history and culture of El Paso. The historic San Jacinto Plaza is located in the heart of downtown El Paso on the corner of Oregon and Mills St. At the center, you will find the infamous alligator sculpture by Luis Jiménez honoring the city’s colorful past, when real alligators graced the plaza. The park is now home to paths and bridges, bars, high-end restaurants, and multiple cafés that feature a variety of local flavors and snack time favorites.
Got a little extra time on your hands? Take a 35-minute drive to Las Cruces New Mexico where you can visit unique shops and restaurant in Old Mesilla or do some wine-tasting at St. Clairs Winery, where you can sip wine, eat great food, and listen to local bands al fresco.
Grab a bite, a cocktail, and an epic view of downtown El Paso! We advise making a reservation since this place is part of the newly renovated Plaza Hotel. While you are there you can also get a great bite to eat at Ámbar Restaurante, boasting modern Mexican wood-fired cuisine and the largest and rarest agave spirit collection in Texas.
Elemi is an amazing, modern taqueria restaurant with an elaborate tequila, sotol, and mezcal menu that includes specialty cocktails. Seen on the Food Network, in "Taste the Nation" on Hulu, and featured countless food articles- this spot doesn't disappoint! Make sure to call on Tuesday to make a reservation later in the week!
Price-friendly, a la carte tacos, ceviches, agua frescas and cervezas that are to die for!
They're FAMOUS, we're known for them, celebrities have posed with them, they're...good? You decide. Chicos Tacos is a local taco fast-food chain that may or may not taste the best after a late night out!
If you are in a bar-hopping mood, we highly recommend several bars downtown. From upscale lounges like the bars at The Plaza Hotel and Hotel Paso del Norte, to to local breweries like Deadbeach, to the queer bar scene on Stanton, there are several scenes to be seen! If you are in a rowdier mood- the college bars and many favorite local "watering holes" can be found on Cincinnati St., close to the University of Texas at El Paso. We are happy to be your food and drink guides so let us know your vibe and we'll point you in the right direction!
