Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

See "Travel and Accommodations" page. We have suggested a number of places that you can book for Friday, October 21 to Sunday, October 23, 2022 - or longer. Choose where you would like to stay, and please keep in mind that we have NOT blocked rooms since this was not an option available to us for many of the places. So, if you plan on attending, it would be wise to book in advance since the Catskills can be a popular tourist destination in the fall. Also, please bear in mind that many places may require a two-night minimum stay. We're happy to have you join us on Friday evening for some games and fun if you come up early.

Question

Should I rent a car?

Answer

That's up to you! We will have shuttles to take you to and from Spillian on Saturday from wherever you are staying locally, but we will not have transportation from the airport/train station/bus station to take you to your accommodations. While Uber and Lyft might be available in the Catskills, it is uncertain of how long the wait times would be. It would be best to either rent a car or arrange for car service in advance.

Question

Will there be a shuttle bus?

Answer

We want you to enjoy yourselves and drink and dance the night away! We will have shuttle busses pick you up to bring you to Spillian before the ceremony, and they will bring you home after the reception has ended. If we haven't reached out to you yet and you're interested in being on the route, call us! Also, this isn't just for those who want to imbibe at the reception and not drive. Anyone who is averse to driving at night on country roads might also be interested in this, too.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Up to you! The ceremony will be held outside under a canopy of pine trees, and there will be a large bonfire burning into the late hours of the night. If you want to dress to the 9s, be our guest. If you want to look like you're a part-time model for REI or Patagonia, feel at liberty to do so. Your comfort is our main priority here, and we do plan on dancing and hanging out by the bonfire. Of course, guests will have the freedom to rest and relax indoors as well. We know falls in the mountains can be cool this time of year. You're also more than welcome to change clothes in the house. Bottom line is prioritize warmth and comfort over style. Check the weather beforehand so you know what you're dealing with.

Question

Is there parking at Spillian?

Answer

Yes - and plenty of it. If you decide to drive yourself to the ceremony, you'll have a place to park. However, we will have shuttles scheduled to bring you to and from the ceremony/reception.

Question

Is there Uber or Lyft in the Catskills?

Answer

The two rideshare services claim to service the Catskills. However, your ability to hire a ride will depend on the availability of drivers in the area, of which there may be few.

Question

What is the COVID policy?

Answer

We are not requiring anyone to wear a mask indoors, and much of the weekend's events will be held outdoors, most notably the ceremony and reception. The employees at Spillian will be wearing a mask for both their and our safety. Please be mindful that comfort levels with personal contact may vary across guests. Your comfort and safety matter to us, and we ask that you stay home if you are feeling unwell. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.
