Hotel
SLO county is home to many small towns. Given the proximity of wedding events, we recommend staying in downtown SLO or Pismo. MOST RECOMMENDED OPTION - Pismo is a vibrant beach town south of SLO. It includes Shell Beach and Pismo Beach areas. Pismo beach has long and sandy beaches, while Shell Beach is located up on bluffs overlooking the oceans. There are a wide range of pricing options from very upscale to highly affordable motels in Pismo Beach area. There are also VRBOs and Air BNBs in Pismo Beach!
Hotel
There are a plethora of places to stay near downtown SLO, including hotels Air BNBs and VRBOs. Please check for options online.
Travel Note
Camping is available the night of our wedding at our wedding venue (Friday night at La Cuesta Ranch) for $20 per person. Campers will need to secure their spot by paying our Venue Host in advance (Venmo details TBD). For those interested in camping beyond the wedding night, there are limited campgrounds in/around downtown SLO and a couple options in South SLO County. Check out: -North Beach Campground on Pismo Beach (Public campground - https://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=595 - Recommended, this campground is very close to where the beach party will be on Saturday) -Flying Flags (Private campground - https://www.flyingflagsavilabeach.com/)
Flight
This is the closest airport and is a 10-15 minute ride from SLO, Shell Beach, and Avila Beach. United, American Airlines, and Alaska all fly into this airport. Additional "nearby" airports are Santa Maria (code "SMX"; 45 drive) and Santa Barbara (code "SBA"; 2 hour drive). PLEASE NOTE THERE ARE ROAD CLOSURES ON HWY 1 IN BIG SUR. DUE TO THESE CLOSURES, YOU CAN NOT DRIVE FROM SAN FRANCISCO TO SLO AND VIA HWY 1. Once you reach monterey/carmel, you will need to take the inland highway 101. HWY 101 is unfortunately not very scenic.
