Hapuna Beach State Recreation Area
One of our favorite beaches on the island! Hapuna is located on the northern side of the island and is a beautiful place to relax, take a dip in the water and enjoy your toes in the sand!
Kua Bay
Kua Bay is another one of our favorite beaches! Just 20 minutes from the airport, you can drive down to Kua Bay to enjoy a fun day in the sun!
Kaunaʻoa (Mauna Kea) Beach
Another gorgeous beach at the Mauna Kea Resort! Grab lunch at the hotel and then hit the beach!
49 Black Sand Beach
This beautiful black sand beach is located in a neighborhood in Mauna Lani - The views and the snorkeling are hard to beat! Please note - This beach is private so make sure to arrive early to grab a parking spot as the lot gets full quickly.
Beach 69 (Waialea Beach)
Another beach located on the northern end of the island! Beach 69 is small but has some of the best snorkeling -Definitely check it out!
Ho‘okena Beach Park
This black sand beach is located in the southern part of the island - Enjoy the beautiful views down to the beach and check out the snorkeling! If you are lucky, you may even see dolphins!
Magic Sands Beach Park
Located in the heart of Kona, Magic Sands is a cool beach to check out! Fun fact - This beach is known as Magic Sands, or sometimes Disappearing Sands, because several times a year the sand gets washed out in storms, exposing the lava rock underneath!
Captain Cook Monument Trail
If you are down for an adventure be sure to check out Captain Cook Monument located in the southern part of the island! You can only access this area by boat, kayak or hiking down. The snorkeling here is by far the best on the island - crystal clear water, colorful reef and the chance to see some cool fish, eels, dolphins & more!
Mauna Kea Observatory
Sunrise or Sunset, Mauna Kea Summit is one of the most amazing places to see on the Big Island! If you decide to go at night, the stargazing is out of this world - we highly recommend checking this out! Please note - In order to go all the way to the summit, you will need to make sure your car is 4-wheel drive & at least a full tank of gas. Don’t have car with 4-wheel drive? No problem! You can still drive up to the Mauna Kea Visitor Information Station and enjoy the view. It’s just as amazing!
Manta Ray Night Snorkel
We highly recommend swimming with Manta Rays at night! This by far has been one of the coolest experiences we have done here. It’s fun, safe and an amazing opportunity to get close to these gentle giants. This can booked online!
