We both swiped right on Bumble, and life has been sweet as honey ever since! After approving each other's profiles and doing our due diligence with some extensive social media "research," we met for our first date on Valentine's Day 2018.

We planned a trip to Cancun with friends to celebrate Scott's birthday, but everyone knew it was a proposal trip except the bride-to-be. The original plan was to have a beautiful beach side proposal and dinner, but on proposal day, it started storming. There was heavy winds, flailing pool furniture, and thunderous rain. While Shate' used the rain as an opportunity to relax, Scott and the rest of the group were frantically planning an alternate proposal location. That evening, the girls convinced Shate' to take pics in matching shirts, even though she preferred to start getting dressed for dinner. As the girls made it to the lobby, Shate' heard the words to Jeremy Passion's "Lemonade" playing over a speaker and immediately knew what was happening. Through tears in her eyes, she saw all the ladies dressed in shirts that said "Love is..." with men wearing shirts with corresponding phrases like, "Encouraging her," or "Crowning her." There, on the balcony of the two-story lobby that overlooked the ocean, with rows of candles and rose pedals forming a heart on the floor, and most importantly, surrounded by the love and support of close friends, Scott offered the most endearing and special proposal, and then he put a gorgeous ring on it!
