Ali and Ricky first met during the summer of 2016. Ali was accompanying her best friend Kelsey on a boat ride with Kelsey’s relatively new beau (now husband) Ryan. Little did they know that after a day filled with sun bathing and laughter, Ricky would spot the boat anchored off of the beach club and swim out to join the crew. After spending a few moments with the boaters, Ricky swam back to shore, but not empty handed because on that day a seed was planted. After that one afternoon on the boat, Ali and Ricky went their separate ways. As Ali continued to develop her life in Manhattan with a cohort of wonderful friends and an exciting career, Ricky entered business school in Ireland, and eventually moved to Manhattan as well. Over the next couple of years, Ali and Ricky moved through time and space but did not manage to see much of one another, except for when Ali would host dinner parties at her midtown apartment and invite Ricky. But as fate would have it, in 2021 Ali and Ricky found their time and space. The seed sprouted one night when Ricky invited some friends over to his apartment for a Friendsgiving dinner. Being the good brother that he is, he invited his sister Connie, his brother Ryan, and his new sister-in-law Kelsey. And luckily for Ricky, Kelsey and Ryan encouraged him to invite Ali. That night, the guests gathered around a table topped with delicious food while stimulating conversation and music filled the air. Ricky made sure to strategize the seating arrangement to move Ali’s seat right next to his. That night, Ali and Ricky discussed their mutual love for Matisse, hiking and their desire to one day travel through Patagonia (foreshadowing their honeymoon plans). As the night came to an end, Ricky felt in his heart that a connection was made and his feeling was confirmed as Ali texted him later that night thanking him for such a lovely evening. After a few weeks passed, twas the night before Christmas. Ali, having spent Chanukah with her family, was invited to celebrate Christmas with Ricky’s family. Ali and Ricky were able to connect again and the rest, as they say, is history. Since December of 2021, Ali and Ricky have not left each other’s side and in August 2023, Ricky proposed to Ali on Martha’s Vineyard.
