Question

Will there be transportation to and from the wedding venue, The Quinta?

Answer

We will have drivers waiting for guests to return home from the reception. The party goes until 1AM but we understand if you'd like to hit the sack sooner :) As not all guests will likely leave at the same time, the drivers will work in shifts and can shuttle guests to their accommodations as they wish. Please use cab service or Uber to arrive at The Quinta by 2:30PM. It is about a 10 minute drive from the Arribas to The Quinta

Question

What should we do in Sintra?

Answer

There is tons to do in the area! Sintra is a resort town in the foothills of Portugal’s Sintra Mountains, near the capital, Lisbon. A longtime royal sanctuary, its forested terrain is studded with pastel-colored villas and palaces. The Moorish- and Manueline-style Sintra National Palace is distinguished by dramatic twin chimneys and elaborate tilework. The hilltop 19th-century Pena National Palace is known for a whimsical design and sweeping views. Here are top sights on Lonely Planet: https://www.lonelyplanet.com/portugal/sintra/top-things-to-do/a/poi/360369 We have also been in touch with a tour guide at Short Cuts Tourism, they offer local private and group tours. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g189156-d12136447-Reviews-Shortcuts_Tourism-Estoril_Cascais_Lisbon_District_Central_Portugal.html You can email them at: shortcuts.geral@gmail.com

Question

Where do I need to be? When?

Answer

The only set events are the welcome dinner on March 13th, Wednesday evening, at the Arribas Hotel at 5:30PM and the wedding! On Thursday, March 14, we ask guests arrive between 2-2:30 and ceremony will start promptly at 2:30.

Question

What do I wear?!?

Answer

The welcome dinner Wednesday is casual, but there will be a photographer, so everything will be documented :) The wedding dress is dressy - but nothing formal. Weather pending, cocktail hour and dinner will be outside, if it rains we will have everything indoors. It will be cool in March. March sees Lisbon become warmer and dryer than previous months. The average temperature goes up a full 2 degrees and now reaches up to around 18°C (that's about 64°F), while the average low also climbs 2 degrees to around 10°C (about 50°F) in the evenings. Men can wear suits, or sport coat/slacks. For the ladies, cocktail dresses or long, more casual dresses or jumpsuits would work. I'd recommend wedges or sandals given we will be on the grass. And maybe bring a shawl or sweater if it gets cool.
